This lesson includes a set of questions that use a method of teaching called “backwards fading”. After a solution has been modeled clearly for students the next example for students to complete asks them to complete just the last step, the following example requires students to complete the last two steps and so on until a student can confidently complete all steps of a solution independently. Research suggests that this approach may help students with retrieval.
